1 HOUR PHOTO

STRATUS hosted 1HR PHOTO at ANNMS Shop on Whyte Avenue on August 12th, featuring a life-scale installation, medium-format photo pop-up and limited edition t-shirt and merchandise.

Our installation was inspired by retro drive-through film kiosks, or Fotomats. They were seen across America in the heyday of film photography and we intended to pay homage to this lost piece of film history. Identifiable by their tiered pyramid canopy, customers could access services such as purchasing film and quick development from mall and box store parking lots.

We played with the idea of bringing the nostalgia back for those who are familiar, while reinventing it for our contemporary context. What resulted was a playful recreation of the kiosk for the team to operate throughout the day.
